Any wax present would then be removed using microsuction. On occasions it may be necessary to also use the irrigation method to complete the procedure. This would be discussed at the time.
The number of appointments required for earwax removal can vary, depending upon individual circumstances. In most cases, a single appointment is sufficient to complete the procedure. However, where the wax is deeply impacted or there are underlying ear conditions, a follow-up appointment may be necessary. The need for follow-up treatment would be assessed and discussed during the initial appointment.
Our earwax removal treatments are suitable for all ages. Under 16’s will require a parent to consent and be present at the appointment.

EAR MICROSUCTION
Ear Microsuction is a safe and gentle procedure, using a fine tube connected to a suction machine. Our earwax technician is able to view your ear canal with the aid of a microscope, to see exactly where the buildup of wax is.
This very thorough process will always utilise new and sterile suction wands for every client, so there is no risk of infection.
It is important to use olive oil spray for your ears, ideally 3-5 days before your appointment. This helps to soften the wax in preparation and makes the treatment much more effective.
EAR IRRIGATION
Ear Irrigation is a traditional way of treating excess earwax.
The water irrigation method involves the earwax technician using an ear irrigator to flush warm water through the ear canal.
A syringe is used to insert a pressurised flow of warm water or a water and saline mixture into the ear. The procedure may need to be repeated a couple of times. When the wax has been removed, we use a special mopping apparatus to dry the ear canal.
This is an extremely safe, gentle and effective method and is typically used to remove larger quantities of earwax.
